Independent bookstores were meant to have died away already, but New York’s independent bookstore industry is proving resilient and there are a number of reasons for it, based on a review of the bookstores in the Big Apple anyway.

Independent bookstores have long been one of the pillars of the creative community in New York, one of the publishing hubs of the world and certainly a city famous for its passion for literature and cultural indulgence.
